News from the Igloo: Todd

ICE has a lot of great team members. Some of which are hired into sales, love it and stay in that department throughout their careers, while others find success in other areas of the business.  Regardless, our team members are what truly make ICE a diverse and unique place to work.

We have some pretty amazing people with many backgrounds and different personalities who have a real passion for what they do. So, we thought what better way to show who we are?

Introducing, Todd!

What would your autobiography be called?

Based On A True Story …

Current Position: Cruise Trainer

Original Position: Cruise Sales

My ICE Story:

I started my journey with ICE almost a decade ago with a referral from a friend.  I was down on my luck with only a couple bucks.  Two weeks into my job at ICE, I had eviction notices, my car repossessed and my phone turned off.  I spent my first check on a storage unit for my belongings.  I stayed up all night walking 2 miles each way to load my things into that unit from my dark former apartment.

The next day, I got my first sale; a 7-day cruise to the Bahamas roundtrip from Baltimore, Maryland. The customer was taking her daughter as a graduation gift.  It was my first call of the day, I booked it, and at that moment I knew I would be good at this job.

A month later I had the most sales in training and a new roommate, who was another agent from my class.  A couple months later I was at the top of my team, and I applied for a team lead position. I didn’t get it, and I was upset and angry. What I didn’t know is that it wasn’t my time yet.  After that, not only did I get to be in outbound sales, inbound package sales, group cruise sales, and for the last four years training all of the new hires, but I learned that lesson in responsibility that I needed.

Before ICE, I never donated much to charity or involved myself in the community; now I look for opportunities. Since I began at ICE, I have met the most amazing woman ever, made a ton of lifelong friends, bought a new car, a house and took countless vacations.

ICE may not talk or have a heartbeat, but I can honestly say that ICE loves me.

Let’s Get to Know Todd!

Before working at ICE, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? Working on an agave farm.

Favorite vacation you’ve ever taken: Tie, Thailand or Kauai!

Favorite restaurant in Arizona: Chino Bandido

Name one thing you’ve always wanted to try, but have not yet: I have always wanted to try new foods. I typically don’t stray too far outside of my usual food.

Do you have any life hacks? Yeah, when you want a cold soda or beer from a can or bottle. Wrap it in a warm, damp paper towel, and in just 5 minutes in the freezer, its good enough to drink.

If you were famous, what would it be for? An online personality.

What are some side projects or hobbies you have outside of work? I review liquor on my website and Instagram.

What is your favorite ICE amenity? The mail room. I constantly forget to mail things out. Makes it simple and easy here.

What has been your favorite project and why? Anything that results in traveling. I love a project I was on in Canada, being able to be in Toronto was fun.

Do you have any advice for prospective ICE candidates? Yeah, I do. This is a place where everyone is equal and hard work shines. I know people say that, but I see it every day. If you want to be successful and be someone, you need to work as hard as successful people.
